Quick update while I charge my laptop so I can load pictures from my camera. Yesterday we toured Wind Cave and the prairie in the morning, and drove through the Black Hills to Devils Tower in the afternoon. Everything in these parts of South Dakota and Wyoming is just beautiful! Always take the scenic route when you can.
We finished walking around Devils Tower around 6pm, and knowing we had a long (6+) drive ahead of us the next day, we decided to get a jump on our drive that evening and stop somewhere in between. We chose a town on the map that had 3 campgrounds to choose from, and set off, which turned out to be a bad idea. One was closed, and the other two were just parking lots with hookups sticking out of the ground. Calling them campgrounds is quite the overstatement, but at least we weren't parked right next to anyone. We ate our first freeze-dried camp dinner, climbed in to go right to sleep, and left by sunrise. Lesson learned- stay near the parks! Now on to Rocky Mountain NP.
